Steroid shots keloid scars

What to expect if you receive steroid injections : Immediately after each injection, the keloid becomes really swollen and discolored, and it actually looks much worse. Then, over the next few weeks, the steroid thins out the skin, the keloid flattens, and the color looks more normal.

Laser treatments : I underwent 3 or 4 laser treatments, but I did not see any significant improvements in color. My dermatologist said that laser treatment helps with color in about half of keloid patients. Although laser didn’t work for me, the color of the keloid has improved on its own with time.

I had a keloid on my ear (a lump scarfrom pierced ears) and just got another steroid shot in it to bring it down. i also had a keloid scar on my chest and had an injection in it today also. I asked my OB if steriod injections are ok during a pregnancy and he said that "there is nothing proving that its bad for the baby". So i went to the ear nose and throat doctor to get my shot. i asked everyone there if it was safe, and they told me to ask the doctor who will be giving me the shot. so the doctor comes in with the needle and i tell him that im pregnant and wanted to know if its safe to get the shot and his eyes grew wide and he said "NO! Your pregnant?? im glad you told me this, you cant get one". then hes like "wait, ill be right back". so then he walks out of the room and i hear him on the phone talking to someone, and comes back in the room a few minutes later and said its OK to get the shots. He said he talked to an OB....
So i got the shots, and now im worried if my baby is gonna be ok.
Anyone ever get steroid shots while pregnant?

It’s been 9 days since my last post, and the top layer of my hypertrophic scar is still gone. I probably exfoliated too much because a new scab isn’t forming. I decided that I should leave it alone for a while because the open wound is a little unsettling for me. For now, I keep it covered with neosporin and a band-aid. I have Scar Away silicone patches for when it closes. In addition, the bruised area surrounding my hypertrophic scar caused by the ACV irritation has given way to a new problem… that area of my skin began to scab.

So glad I found your site after reading all the other alarming information. I was diagnosed a year ago with LS, but everyone has talked of Gynaecologist referals so how come I ended up in Dermotology? What worries me are the lumps & bumps which are referred to and which I have plus blisters. Help is this normal? I am using an emulent based cream for washing & barrier protection & a stronger steriod cream (as the first cream didn’t work, but having said that, was I not using enough, as they say sparingly!) How do you know if you are reacting to the creams etc with this problem? How demoralised I feel as a woman who looked forward to & shortly enjoyed the freedom of sex after her hysterectomy to now not being able to have sex. (Sorry feeling low). Its also funny that after the ‘op’ I started swimming again & it is said that clorine can affect you, it was a few months after when problems started together with a reaction to 2 medications really kick started it. I also have read that you can be alergic to ‘sperm fluid’ is this then also another starting point after the ‘op’ since previous protection used?

Hi I had a lisfranc fracture to 1st and 2nd metatarsal in Dec 15. The impact for the break caused large blood clots across my mid foot and as a result I had a large and deep debridement that was covered by a skin graft. Area is about 10cm long by 4cm wide. It’s deep (can fit all my thumb in it vertically). Have been massaging twice a day with bio oil and trying to stretch by flexing my foot. Am doing partial weight bearing for another month before screws come out. One side feels softer but not much change in the other side, which is the deeper side. Anything else I could be doing?
